Wiha tools came out with their Ultra Driver over a year ago and it has been very popular in the trades ever since. It was so innovative at the time, that it won the prestigious Red Dot award for design. The pop-up bit holder in the handle holds reversible bits specifically designed for the Ultra Driver. This makes for 26 different tip styles, creating a very handy all-in-one tool.
Though the exciting news is that the original Ultra Driver is only $19.99 until the end of 2017, another variation of the tool has the potential to create a buzz as well. Because of the way the bit holder in the original is designed, it would be almost impossible to create an insulated version of it (for now, anyway), but Wiha has done the next best thing. They have created an insulated insert bit holder with the carousel, pop-up handle of the Ultra Driver.Read More »
Here at KC Tool we have some pretty specialized tools. Just look at the bewildering array of bits, screwdriver styles, and pliers, for example. For something different I thought we’d explore one of the simplest, and yet indispensable, tools: the awl, and its cousin the scriber.

Torx is actually a trademark of Camcar Textron, so the use of its name is another example of genericized trademark, like we use the term Allen Wrench for Hex Keys.Read More »
My wife and I saw the latest Wolverine movie last night, “Logan“. I have been a X-Men fan since I collected the comics as a kid. Imagine my surprise when the main bad guy, Donald Pierce (played by Boyd Holbrook), fixes his cybernetic arm with what appears to be a Wiha precision screwdriver! I won’t spoil anything for you other than this amazing cameo combining some of my favorite things: action, comics, and German hand tools! Check out the movie and see if you agree with me!
