KC Tool awarded Google Trusted Store badge

KC Tool, which offers high quality German tools, was recently selected to join the Google Trusted Stores program.  To help shoppers identify online merchants that offer a great shopping experience, the Google Trusted Store badge is awarded to e-commerce sites that demonstrate a track record of on-time shipping and excellent customer service.

When visiting the KC Tool website, shoppers can hover over the Google Trusted Store badge and see metrics on the store’s shipping and customer service performance.  KC Tool currently has a 100% rating for excellent service and 99% rating for on-time shipping.

“The Google Trusted Stores program is great because it facilitates more transparency between our customers and KC Tool.  The customer can have Google guarantee their purchase up to $1,000 and in exchange we get to show off our consistency and reliability; it’s a win-win situation,” said Derek Tran, Webmaster for KC Tool.

As an added benefit, when a shopper makes a purchase at a Google Trusted Store, they have the option to select free purchase protection from Google.  Then in the unlikely event of an issue with their purchase, they can request Google’s help, and Google will work with KC Tool and the customer to address the issue.  As part of this, Google offers up to $1,000 lifetime purchase protection for eligible purchases.

Google Trusted Stores is entirely free, both for shoppers and for online stores.  The program helps online stores like KC Tool attract new customers, increase sales and differentiate themselves by showing off their excellent service via the badge on their websites.

KC Tool was started 2012 and is located in Olathe, KS (near Kansas City).  KC Tool is committed to delivering high quality German tools at competitive prices with excellent customer service.  With no order minimums and a variety of shipping options, KC Tool attracts both the individual buyer as well as the Fortunate 500 corporation.

World Famous Tool Collector Dies at Age 87

I received an email today from Tools of the Trade with some news updates, one of which in particular caught my eye: “World Famous Tool Collector Dies at Age 87”

Being in the business of German tool sales, I have amassed quite a few tools over time without the goal nor intent of being a collector, however, “collection” would sum up my selection of tools at home (as would “organized chaos” or perhaps “method to the madness”).

A tool collection takes on a whole new meaning once you read about the late Ken Hawley, 87.  Mr. Hawley began collecting tools in 1950 when he was a tool salesman in England.  Over his lifetime he collected over “…2,000 joiner’s planes, 1,000 table knives, 260 micrometers, 50 anvils, 4,000 catalogues and thousands of associated photos and documents related to the sale and manufacture of tools…”¹

Mr. Hawley’s tool collection grew so much that “they are now part of the Ken Hawley Collection at Kelham Island Museum in Sheffield, UK.” I have never been to England but it remains on my bucket list as does now visiting the Ken Hawley Collection at Kelham Island Museum if and when I get the chance to hop across the pond.

I’ve seen many collectors of some of the truck brands (Snap-On, etc.) and while impressive, they are different as they are more in the name of brand loyalty (which I can certainly appreciate).  It is neat to see someone with such enthusiasm and dedication to preserving a wide-array of examples of craftsmanship and the knowledge that comes along with that for future generations.

I invite and encourage you to read the article I received from Tools of the Trade written by David Frane as well as watching the YouTube video of Mr. Hawley’s collection (uploaded 2012):
